About the Job

We are looking for a Business Manager to drive Avenire's growth in Food Pathogen Detection, focusing on consolidating our initial market traction, refining our customer-centred value proposition, fueling our international expansion and developing high-value partnerships. This role requires someone who can navigate uncertainty, think strategically and execute energetically.

This position reports to the VP of Business Growth & Marketing and is ideal for a business-minded scientist or an entrepreneurial commercial leader.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Biotechnology or related fields.
  • Postgraduate degree preferred (MBA, MSc), especially if focused on business development or commercial strategy.
  • Full professional proficiency in English (C1): Strong ability to communicate, negotiate, and build international relationships.

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in business development, strategic sales, or commercial expansion, ideally, but not mandatory, within the life sciences industries.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute market strategies and revenue growth plans.
  • Experience in partnership negotiations, market analysis, and sales forecasting.
  • Track record of successfully leading teams during uncertainty and high demand challenges.
  • Commercial Business Growth: Proven ability to develop and scale strategic commercial initiatives, driving sustainable revenue and market expansion, with a remarkable entrepreneurial and hands-on approach.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop long-term value propositions and scale commercial initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Consolidate our Initial Market Traction

  • After 2 years of work, the Avenire RESIST Food Kit is already in the market and generating early revenue from initial customers. Your number one responsibility will be to consolidate our actual market positioning, by pushing commercial leads ferociously and maintaining the team focused on customer growth and development.

2. Refine our Customer Centered Value Proposition

  • The Avenire RESIST Food product line was developed by leveraging existing technology and adapting it to real customers' requests. For this reason, more than following our competitors, we follow user needs, as long as they present attractive market opportunities. As a key element for future success, you will be responsible for sharply understanding customers and market insights, in order to shape (inside of our technical possibilities) a unique and successful value proposition.

3. Fuel our International Expansion

  • While our actual main market is Chile, we understand that mid and long-term business success demands international expansion, allowing us to participate in a multi-billion business. This challenge will demand to strategically identify the different market opportunities and barriers, and overcome the lack of logistic and brand footprint to develop and execute a plan to become an international player in the short term.
