About the position As a senior Software Engineer at Checkr, you will play a critical role in advancing our product as part of our mission to modernize our data platform. You will collaborate with other engineers and product peers throughout the product development lifecycle to design and deliver new platform capabilities and key product initiatives. Your passion for technical excellence will drive modernization of our tech stack, simplify system architecture, and automate manual workflows to ensure scalability and efficiency of our platform. What you will do Develop new platform capabilities and product offerings from design through launch. Balance speed to market with long‑term growth, designing with a forward-looking approach and building for the present. Collaborate with the Product department to define appropriately scoped initiatives and create a quarterly roadmap that meets business needs. Preserve customer goodwill by ensuring system availability, participating in on‑call rotations, responding to support requests, and taking preventive actions to improve reliability. Provide guidance to engineers on the team and across the organization. Play an active role in continuous improvement of the engineering organization through lunchtime discussions, team presentations, and leadership reviews. What you should bring Advanced English proficiency (required). 2+ years of backend software development experience with strong proficiency in Ruby (preferred), Golang, or JavaScript/TypeScript. Solid fundamentals in computer science: relational and non-relational databases, data structures, algorithms, and REST APIs. Experience in domain modeling, object design, and systems architecture. Demonstrated ability to write clean, tested, and maintainable code. Ability to set expectations and make informed decisions through project estimates based on available information. Ability to write and review technical proposals, provide constructive feedback, and articulate trade-offs. Strong ownership across the full software development lifecycle, including incident response and product resilience. Willingness to collaborate and share knowledge with teammates and across the organization. Eagerness to learn, improve, and innovate in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Hybrid work availability in our Santiago office: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Salary transparency Pay Transparency Disclosure: We disclose salary ranges in all job postings. OTE/Base salary range for Santiago, Chile: $36,295,000—$42,700,000 CLP.
