Supervise and direct tanks craft, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned. Ensure assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets. Work requires extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.). Major Responsibilities Providing ES&H leadership to personnel assigned to the tank and storage department. This includes preparation and implementation of safety procedures and leading Bechtel and subcontractor safety meetings and participating in safety investigations. Inspecting site for unsafe conditions and practices and taking appropriate action to correct deficiencies. Monitoring the activities of craft to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules. Being responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labor and maintaining the overall construction schedule, the 90 day and four weeks look ahead schedules for labor and equipment. Reviewing craft time records using established automated tools. Preparing material requisitions for tools and consumables and coordinate through Procurement to obtain these materials. Planning the manpower and equipment required to execute the job. Preparing reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts. Performing employee reviews and identifying training and development opportunities for subordinate tanks personnel. Coordinating activities with other discipline superintendents or area superintendents and client resident representatives, as necessary to meet project objectives. Education and Experience Requirements Requires 10 years of demonstrated experience in tank building supervision. Required Knowledge and Skills Experience working in a field construction environment understanding specifications, vendor procedures, instructions & codes with working knowledge of API-650. Knowledge of welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW, SAW and the use of Automatic Girth Welders, Down Flat Tractors, and automated isolation machines. Knowledge of large crawler cranes, tower cranes, SPMTs and heavy lift programs. Technical knowledge of tank building equipment and tools. Knowledge of requirements for Lock Out Tag Out. Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken. Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Ability to work with multi-national employees and across different languages. Ability to train less experienced team members and provide mentorship to others. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead and manage change. Proficient in English. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as required that may include but not limited to nightshift or split shift.
