Consultant in Anaesthesia with a General Anaesthesia University Hospital Hairmyres is looking to recruit a Consultant with a generalist interest in anaesthesia. The appointee will take part in a dedicated theatre on a call rota based on a 1 in 10 frequency. The department has 22 consultants undertaking 2.5 and/or 2 session days made up from the following subspecialties: ITU, general surgery, robotics, vascular, ECT, orthopaedics, CEPOD, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, gynaecology and pre‑assessment. Any specialist interest could be accommodated. The exact configuration of sessions will be determined following appointment when a job plan will be issued as part of the contract. The position is offered as a full‑time post on a 10 PA basis. Responsibilities Participate in the dedicated theatre on a call rota (1 in 10 frequency). Join a multidisciplinary team of 22 consultants covering a broad range of subspecialties. Adapt and contribute to the department’s session plan, as outlined in the job plan. Support quality improvement, patient safety (including human factors training), medical education, research and development, and act as an appraiser when required. Qualifications Consultant level in anaesthesia with a general anaesthesia expertise. Demonstrated commitment to service quality improvement, patient safety, medical education, research and development, or an appraiser role. Willingness to discuss proposals for additional SPA time from individuals with well‑developed ideas for improving services. Contract Details The role is full‑time on a 10 PA basis.
