Locum Consultant in Emergency Medicine – NHS Ayrshire & Arran Join a dedicated team committed to providing patient‑centred, safe and clinically effective care. This role offers flexible working through an online self‑roster system, helping to optimise work‑life balance. Overview As part of NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Emergency Medicine team, you will deliver extended‑hours care in a busy department. You will face a demanding case mix across all age groups and have opportunities to work as a dual accredited CCT holder, particularly in Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM), but also in Intensive Care Medicine (ICM) and Acute Medicine. Responsibilities Provide emergency medical care across all age ranges. Participate in team meetings and quality improvement initiatives. Contribute to teaching, research or scholarship in partnership with the University of Glasgow. Act as an appraiser and support multidisciplinary learning where required. Qualifications Full registration and licence to practice with the GMC. Experience and interest in improving services, patient safety, medical education, and research & development. Working Hours & Flexibility The post is offered as a full‑time role on a 10 PA basis, with flexibility for those wishing to work less. Additional SPA time is encouraged for candidates with clear proposals to support service improvement. Proposals for more than 1 PA of SPA duties can be discussed with the Recruitment Lead or Service Manager.
