About the team:


The Compliance team (including you) is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining awareness, monitoring, and promoting Compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies throughout Merama and its portfolio companies.

The Regulatory Affairs department works on interpreting regulations and providing advice based on a scientifically derived risk-based assessment.


Partnering with Product Development, Supply Chain, and International Expansion teams on pre-market assessments, connecting with International Logistics teams on packaging and labeling, and working with Sales and Marketing teams on marketplace requirements and marketing claims, the RA team must use analytical skills and influence to advise on legal requirements and to shape the regulatory environment.


We are a lean and agile team focused on solving challenges for the Company and helping the Companies have an adequate compliance framework.


About the role:


Your mission is to ensure regulatory compliance with the current portfolio of Merama group companies' products as well as the regulatory validation of certifications, permits, packaging, labeling, and other applicable requirements to ensure the implementation of current legislation and for both local regulatory changes and customs requirements for the countries from which products are being imported.


Main responsibilities:

  • Developing regulatory, certification, risk management and product compliance expertise related to our various product categories for Chilean and emerging markets including consumer electronics, têxtile, superfoods and supplements, baby products, home utilities and appliances, wellness and sports equipment.
  • Submitting of the requirements for Product compliance for Chilean and its emerging markets by reviewing Importations requirements, packaging information and materials, Commercialization requirements and Marketing claims.
  • Developing, leading and executing regulatory compliance strategies to enable the business to commercialize new products and to maintain existing business.
  • Collaborating with crossfunctional, global teams to lead, execute and document product regulatory compliance for existing products and new products.
  • Identifying, assessing, and communicating product and process risks through leading and executing risk assessments and audits, including risks on the custom process as well as trade agreements opportunities.
  • Providing regulatory and product guidance and direction in daily business processes such as customer inquiries, hazard communication, product labeling and literature content, claims substantiation, product design control for existing Merchants and future acquisitions.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified).
  • At least three (3) years of combined experience in product and customs regulatory compliance in Chile.
  • Experience in risk assessment and performing internal audits.
  • Knowledge of the Chilean General Law on Imports and Exports: Law 1852
  • Knowledge of security standards, labeling and sanitary regulations for the commercialization of products according with the rules and regulations of Ministry of Economy, Promotion and Tourism and its decrees, Ministry of Health
  • Public Health Institute of Chile.
  • Microsoft Office Skills
