Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this position is to manage the Stowage Planning activities. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and optimized vessel stowage plans, assure the Vessel’s space optimization, and safe loading of ships, on time and within the SOLAS, ISM, and other legal requirements and in the most economical way.

Essential Functions

• Create stowage plans ensuring crew vessel and cargo safety parameters are adhered to.
• Stowage supports optimizing vessels operations during port stay and utilization is maximized.
• Monitor the vessel capacity in close contact with schedule execution and cargo control. 
• Follow up on any queries regarding stowage or operations of the vessel.  
• Execute COD requests, providing costs or additional moves involved and impact if any on overall stowage.
• Provide safe stowage to Hazardous cargo always in accordance with IMDG and HL internal guidelines.
• Approve/confirm stowage feasibility of safe stowage to special commodities and OOGs. Providing lost slots where applicable.
• Compare booking status against forecast and check against vessel´s capacity.
• Monitor the allocation of Lines (allocation control) and the vessel’s total allocation in close contact with product management and partners.
• Provide and advise the vessel with calculations for stability, trim, shear forces, torsion, bending moment, draft, and air draft.
• Addresses any queries regarding stowage or operation of the vessel.
• Circulate the Baplie file according to the distribution list.
• Good communication, clear and concise in the organization keeping a good vocabulary and level of technical complexity.
• Stays in close contact with the terminal before and during cargo operation.  

Minimun Qualification

• University Degree, Merchant Marine Engineer (First Officer or Second Officer), Navy Academy or equivalent.
• Minimun 3 years of experience in shipping operation, stowage planning.
• Advanced Level (written and spoken) of English & Spanish language.
• MS Office applications.
• Good communication skills.
• High analytical mindset, and the ability to work systematically under pressure.
• Previous knowledge/experience on stowage system in the port and at the terminal.

Additional Information

• Contract Conditions: permanent contract with local conditions (Chilean law is applicable).
