The purpose of the Social Performance team within CR&SI is to enable best practice outcomes in social performance for all our stakeholders across the Business Unit, in support of delivery of the Group Strategy. As a team, social performance guide and advise BU leadership on the way that social performance is managed to ensure that Anglo American delivers value to all our stakeholders. This will support Anglo American’s objective to be a safe, responsible mining company and support Anglo American’s purpose.

The purpose of this role is to lead the site-level Social Performance team, working closely with BU teams, to set the strategic direction for the function across the operation in support of achieving long term strategic social performance and stakeholder engagement objectives.

**Performance & Delivery**

Business Expectations
- Lead and oversee implementation of the Social Way management system for the operation including all aspects of social performance governance; review and planning; stakeholder engagement; incident and grievance management; social and human rights impact and risk analysis; socio-economic development; contractor social management; community health and safety; emergency preparedness and response planning; security management and the voluntary principles on security and human rights; LADAR; Cultural Heritage and Artisanal and Small Scale miners (as relevant).
- Lead the social performance inputs into the Life of Asset Plan and the Resource Development plan regarding any of the issues identified above
- Break down relevant Group and BU information on Social Performance and Socio-Economic Development (SED) matters to site level, translate into site-specific targets and budgets and communicate to on-site teams
- Lead and oversee the implementation of the social performance inputs into the Sustainable Mine Plan, and reporting thereof
- Lead and oversee proactive external stakeholder engagement

Operational Planning
- Lead on the Social Performance input into site-specific 5-year plan and lead development of 1-year site social performance budget
- Lead the development of the site’s critical social performance outputs including Social Management Plan, Stakeholder Engagement Plan, Community Health and Safety Management Plan, EPRP etc, using the framework provided BU/Group, in alignment with senior leaders.
- Lead the development of external context studies and impact assessments to support the understanding of risks and impacts and development of relevant plans. Analyse and manage community impacts related to land access and acquisition and relevant site processes to fulfil permitting requirements
- Align with BU Socio-Economic Development (SED) Planning team to develop site-specific SED Plans highlighting activity delivered at regional level and at local level.
- Ensure community impacts form part of Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning and that emergency preparedness drills with communities take place commensurate to the risk of possible site-induced emergencies.
- Lead on the social performance input to the site’s closure plan
- Lead the incorporation of social performance elements into the site’s operating model as per the plans identified above (as relevant)
- Participate / coordinate the site-level Social Performance Management Committees / engagement forums.
- Lead relevant social performance evaluation processes at a site level.

Work Management
- Lead the effective management of on-site social performance work within budget and headcount, in alignment with Group/BU Corporate Relations & Sustainable Impact including:

- Oversee that Social Performance recommendations are integrated into the site operating model
- Influence other disciplines and align with site leadership and GM where necessary to ensure that detailed actions from Social Performance strategy are integrated into site activities
- Coordinate all on-site Social Performance activities, ensuring alignment and delivery against commitments
- Ensure delivery and report to Group, BU and site leadership on performance against agreed KPIs, strategic objectives and incidents and grievances
- Identify training and coaching needs for Social Performance team and adjacent disciplines
