**The challenge**:
The Principal Software Engineer is responsible for working with all elements of our solution, including the front and back end, to enhance, optimize and expand Examity’s leading learning validation solution. This individual will work closely with product managers, UX, engineering, DevOps, and quality assurance teams both in-house and offshore.

**Job Duties**:

- Build, test, and deploy innovative customer-facing products encompassing a highly intuitive user experience.
- Contribute to an Agile team that solves complex challenges and builds quality software on a regular basis.
- Evaluate new technologies and third-party products to include in Examity offerings and improve systems engineering capabilities.
- Work at the intersection of infrastructure and software engineering, and design and deploy cloud infrastructure using Azure & AWS.
- Provide guidance to end-to-end architecture working across cross functional teams, documenting design principles and driving a number of more junior engineers in design and coding of various features.
- Serve as the technical champion of systems and its interaction at scale.
- Build Prototypes/Proof of Concepts(POCs) to evaluate and improve the performance, scalability of existing Applications/APIs/Services.
- Collaborate with the operations team on complex issues and incidents effecting customer base.
- Organize technical workshops with development teams to drive the solution design.
- Drive enterprise-wide architecture practices that are used by various architects to ensure Examity’s vision can be diligently executed upon.
- Evaluate new technologies and third-party products to include in Examity offerings and improve systems engineering capabilities.

**Job Requirements**:
Master’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science or closely related field and 8 years of relevant experience in software design and architecture; or a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science or closely related field and 10 years of relevant experience in software design and architecture.

Experience must include:

- Defining strategic direction and vision of technology and architecture
- Learning Management System, LMS Integrations, Payment Gateways.
- AWS/Azure and associated cloud technologies, Microservices, and DevOps tools and technologies.
- Programming with Python, Java, SQL, Angular/Typescript, C#.
- Data architecture, database design, data quality, tools, processes and governance.
- Software development at scale, including Agile, SCRUM.
- Web server, app servers, DNS server, load balancing and security posture in DC, as well as in public cloud.

May telecommute and report as needed to headquarters in Newton, MA.
