Market Risk Analyst

**The Role**:
Our Market Risk Analyst will be responsible for managing Pepperstone group’s market risk during European and US trading hours to facilitate the team’s 24/7 coverage. This involves providing support to the Head of Market Risk - EMEA through analysis, review, and constant monitoring of risk measures across all asset classes. The role will focus on reducing market risk to the group, using financial instruments. The focus will be to ensure the group’s risk limits are always maintained.

**Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to**:

- Preparing risk reports/analysis for the Head of Market risk, General Manager - Operations, Risk and Analytics, Senior Management, and wider stakeholders
- Monitoring of the group’s overall market risk ensuring risk limits are maintained
- Actively reducing group risk through the trading of financial instruments
- Escalating issues or potential issues and problems to the Head of Operations, Head of Market Risk, and global compliance functions
- Managing/monitoring back-end pricing systems and infrastructure
- Updating pricing models, including spread mark-ups and filtration settings, and swap rates
- Managing stakeholder communications with regard to products, market events, and risks ensuring transparent communication across the business
- Identifying malicious trading activities, including Market Abuse, and escalating to compliance
- Appropriate assessment of client trading to determine the best method of risk management and appropriate counterparties
- Maintaining best execution reporting, aiding with trade reporting and other regulatory requirements
- Asset assessment and market valuation analysis, including presentation of risks and opportunities including product expansion

**About you**:

- Degree in Mathematics, Commerce, Business, Finance, or Engineering
- Strong mathematics and analytical skill base with excellent attention to detail
- Experience with derivatives products and FX with a good understanding of the CFD/Spread betting industry
- Strong understanding of financial markets
- Sound problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Previous experience in Risk/Dealing (Desirable)
- Experience with report building (Desirable)
- Good to Advanced knowledge of Excel/Python/SQL (Desirable)
- Ability to work collaboratively within teams and across functions and time zones
- Sound verbal and written communication skills with solid interpersonal and influencing skills
- Highly motivated, flexible, positive people person with a strong drive to succeed
