R&d Lab Technician Ii

Fall Creek is creating a world with better blueberries through its friendly, collaborative team spread across the globe. To help us accomplish this, we are seeking a qualified **R&D Lab Technician II**. This position will be located in **Lowell, Oregon**.

The Fall Creek R&D Lab Technician II is responsible for performing micropropagation of in vitro plants and/or molecular and cell biology laboratory activities. Will coordinate collection, processing, and advanced analyses of TC (tissue culture) processes or samples for molecular diagnostics and/or genomic procedures. Conducts a variety of research activities utilizing specialized TC or molecular techniques and routinely reports findings to a variety of stakeholders. This position requires strong attention, will train and supervise other team members in specific processes.

**What you'll do at Fall Creek**:

- Regularly performs all the duties of a R&D Lab Tech I and/or Lab Tech III.
- Coordinates collection of samples for testing or initiation processing for in vitro micropropagation or molecular process and sample storage ensuring proper handling, labeling and preparation.
- Routinely performs advanced micropropagation techniques including but not limited to seed, embryo, meristem, callus, cell or anther culture in liquid and/or solid media and/or advanced molecular analyses including but not limited to Flow Cytometry, ELISA, PCR, qPCR assays, and sequencing library preparation according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Research relevant topics and gather information/data to coordinate research projects, present in a timely basis research on all projects/accomplishments to Supervisors/Managers.
- Performs research to develop new lab processes and optimize current lab processes.
- Prepares and handles solutions, media, and reagents according to specification following SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and ensures all SDS sheets are updated.
- Analyzes experimental data, interpret results, draft reports, and present findings on a regular basis.
- Sets up, adjusts, calibrates, cleans, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and receives, maintains, and ensures available consumables.
- Train and supervise processes of other team technicians, assigning tasks to achieve goals.
- Assures the highest level of confidentiality on sensitive matters concerning the nursery.

**What you bring to Fall Creek**:

- Requires a Bachelor's degree in either Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Horticulture, Plant Biology, Genomics, Biotechnology or related field.
- Requires minimum 3+ year lab experience in related field with references.
- Demonstrated knowledge of molecular and/or cell biology skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and databases and the ability to provide detailed reporting using Excel spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of good laboratory practices.
