**Role Description/Purpose**

The British Council is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant (Early Years) to join our vibrant teaching centre in Chile. With a global reputation for excellence in English pedagogy and direct teaching, we are proud to offer high-quality education to young learners aged 2 to 6, as well as older children between 7 and 16 years old. Our Early Years Learning Centre is part of a worldwide network committed to nurturing language development and cultural understanding.
As a Teacher Assistant (Early Years), you will play a vital role in supporting teachers in the effective management and delivery of lessons. You will contribute to the learning journey of our students by promoting English language acquisition, facilitating engaging educational experiences, and extending learning beyond the classroom. Your work will align with the British Council’s mission to foster cultural relations through education and language.

You will report to the Senior Teacher at the centre, who liaises with our global team to ensure consistency and quality across all teaching environments.

**Role Accountabilities**

The British Council is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant (Early Years) to support its global English strategy at our Learning Centre in Chile. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of young learners while upholding the British Council’s reputation as a world leader in English Language Teaching.
As a Teacher Assistant (Early Years), you will be responsible for delivering classroom support to the highest standards. You will assist teachers in setting up and managing activities, helping learners complete tasks such as worksheets and crafts, and providing additional support to those who need it most. In situations where language barriers arise, you may be required to translate between Spanish and English to ensure smooth communication in the classroom and between parents and teachers.
You will supervise children both inside and outside the classroom when necessary, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. Your role will also involve contributing to the overall care of assigned children, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, and supporting the wider aims of the British Council through excellent customer service and adherence to core standards in child protection, health and safety, and equality and diversity.
In addition to your classroom responsibilities, you will complete administrative tasks to specified standards, engage in professional development, and assist with local marketing and promotional activities. You will work collaboratively with the teaching team to evaluate and improve the Learning Centre’s offerings, helping to meet the evolving needs of students and their families.

**Qualifications & Experience**

**Essentials**
- Proficiency in English equivalent to a Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) B2/C1 level or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) band score 6.5 or higher.
- Ability to operate in Spanish at a good operational level equivalent to CEFR B2 level.
- Being a university student aiming for a teaching qualification from a Chilean or international university, ideally in 3rd or 4th year of the teaching program.
- At least 1 semester experience working with young children in an institutional setting in at least one of the following age categories: 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6 or 7-12 years old.

**Desirables**

Having gone through at least 1 teaching practice in a school setting according to the teaching program at university.

**Important Information**:

- **Location**:Providencia, Santiago (onsite).
- **Hourly rate**:5,218.00 CLP.
- **Working Hours**:The post holder is expected to work delivering face-to-face classes between Tuesdays and Fridays (16:30 - 18:30), and on Saturdays (09:30 - 17:00), according to business needs.
- **Contract type**:Fixed-term, 1 semester.
