**Job Description**:
**Current context for Business Function**

The purpose of Sustainable Development is to create value for our shareholders, employees and communities through industry leading sustainability performance by developing the organization’s capability to manage risks and exploit opportunities.

To lead Copper Chile sustainability management by ensuring an integrated, efficient, and standardized approach which realise greater business performance.

**Key Tasks**:
**Safety, Health & Environment**
- Provide Safety, Health & Environment leadership when delivering on goals, ambitions and activities to ensure safety, health and wellbeing at work and at home.
- Lead by example, perform visible felt leadership and incentivize an unconditional safety culture across Base Metals and Anglo American.

**Performance & Delivery**
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop a new approach to permitting innovative and new technologies that reflects the current speed of evolution of technology, enabling the very best of technology to be implemented in our operations in a timely manner.
- Design and lead workable and creative solutions to integrate the permitting dimension into different scenarios for implementation of Future Smart technologies, identifying and managing the opportunities and risks associated and providing specialized permitting expertise to New Technology “sprint” projects.
- Lead the review of global industry trends and related information to determine the current and future new technologies and permitting environment
- Systematize the permit management to consistently deliver real-time reliable information to proactively support strategic decision-making processes
- Set and drive efficiency targets when leading the permitting performance
- Drive a risk management/critical control approach to managing permitting issues across the BU.
- Prioritize Permit acquisition and compliance, whenever it can have a positive impact on Sustainability performance **Sustainability & Social**

- Drive delivery of objectives including holding team members to account for their work.
- Participate as an effective team member in working collaboratively with your leader, peers, and relevant others (including from other teams) to achieve business goals.

**Compliance**:

- Ensures personal, team and stakeholder compliance to the Anglo-American procurement policy, procedures and methods and proactively provide continuous improvement feedback to the relevant teams.
- Define standards and procedures that enable efficient, resilient, and agile processes as well as ensures compliance to these.
- Provide oversight and assurance on Project planning, delivery, capital expenditure and budget compliance
- Contribute to the Group Data Policy to ensure well defined data assets and accepted standards.
- Support and enforce compliance and adoption of the Group Data Policy.

**Qualifications**:

- Qualification: Relevant postgraduate qualification, ideally an MBA or equivalent
- Desirable: A postgraduate qualification (Honours/ Masters/ Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity

**Specific Knowledge requirements**:

- Strong background in Permitting and Sustainability, ideally mining (or other extractive), with multi-site and multi-country operations.
- Delivered strong performance in a leadership role, having successfully managed large cross-discipline teams, complex processes, and execution of strategic and sustainability projects.
- Strong background in Social and Governmental relations, Sustainability, Financial and business case evaluation.
- External stakeholder management experience
