We are currently recruiting an **Environmental Engineer** with field experience, to join our team.

The Environmental Supervisor is a project-specific role on the Ambatovy Ore Slurry Project in Madagascar. This role will assist the project with Environment and Sustainability requirements. In collaboration with the Project Director, Project Manager, ESG Lead, and Corporate Sustainability team, this role will plan for, execute, and inspect for compliance with client and government regulations and other environmental requirements of the Project works.

In addition, the role will help establish and grow the relationship with the client for all future opportunities to support the client for both the project and wider operations

- It is responsible for ensuring that all incidents, in which it has been witnessed or involved, including minor incidents, are reported to management.
- Take corrective action to avoid unhealthy, dangerous or ecologically unsafe work practices.
- Comply with Ausenco's policies and procedures and work within legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Provision of services: Implement the objectives and goals for guaranteeing the project requirements under the contract.
- Plan, inspect, and report on environmental mitigations.
- Update the Project Environmental Protection Plan as required.
- Conduct compliance audits and monitoring.
- Review and validate Contractor environmental plans and procedures.
- Issue project reports.
- Communicate environmental, permitting, and scheduling risks to the ESG Lead and Project Manager
- Coordinate with the ESG Lead and client CSR to ensure community relations are successful and timely.
- Communicate deviations from environmental plans to the Project Manager.
- Collect environmental data, such as water quality monitoring, noise monitoring, and spill response.
- Reduce risk by suggesting adaptive management strategies for environmental incidents.
- Strive to meet Ausenco’s targeted KPIs.
- Identify upcoming environmental requirements (permits, risks, management plan requirements, etc.)
- Perform any other functions required by the Project Manager within the scope of its competency.
- The project has a duration of at least 1.5 years. The work will be** on-site in Madagascar with a shift of 8 weeks work x 4 weeks off**. The company covers travel and accommodation expenses. Unique opportunity for an international experience with a multicultural team

**About you**:

- Undergraduate degree (Environmental Management or Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Natural Resources Engineering or similar). Ideally with postgraduate studies in environmental management or engineering, Project Management.
- Experience consulting on environmental issues, developing environmental and social strategies
- Familiarity with construction, mining and other resource sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to create and deliver persuasive presentations and detailed reports.
- Ability to move initiatives forward by working through complexity and uncertainty to drive initiatives to completion.
- French language skills an asset, strong English skills mandatory
- Appropriate knowledge use of: Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Ability to work successfully in a team setting, while maintaining autonomous initiative
- A minimum of 5-7 progressive years in environmental consulting, in mining and/or construction execution projects. Experience with client engagement and a professional understanding of regulatory and contract requirements. The ability to work autonomously and in a team setting. Field and environmental monitoring experience.
