Job Description

Who will you be working with?

The Industrial and System Project Engineer supports all technical aspects related to transit, freight components, and associated segments throughout the entire supply chain—from customer engagement to supplier coordination.

This role involves working with cross-functional teams, including project management, sourcing, quality, manufacturing, material planning, customer service, product engineering, fulfillment, logistics, process, and IT. You will contribute to both complex and straightforward projects, collaborating closely with senior engineers and project managers.

Participation in project and product reviews, as well as supporting technical negotiations with end customers, are key responsibilities of this position.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Transit, Freight Components, and Industrial division, you will support projects and products deployed across Latam, while fostering collaboration with global business units.

  • Lead field service operations, coordinating technicians and subcontractors to ensure execution.
  • Plan and oversee technical activities, ensuring timely progress and alignment with project goals.
  • Track reliability and performance indicators, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Optimize resource utilization across products, projects, and implementation phases to maximize efficiency.
  • Lead stakeholder communication efforts, ensuring clear, consistent, and effective engagement.
  • Collaborate closely with regional colleagues and ensure alignment with the Center of Competence on activities carried out across Latam

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, or Industrial Maintenance) or a related technical field.
  • 4–5 years of industry experience, ideally in technical or project-oriented roles. Experience in project execution and/or maintenance of electromechanical and industrial systems is preferred—especially within railway infrastructure or access automation.
  • Advanced proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.
  • Ability to interpret and work with electrical drawings, industrial schematics, layout plans, and installation diagrams.
  • Strong analytical thinking, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and solve problems with limited information.
  • Effective influencer, capable of building direct and indirect support for ideas across teams.
  • Proactive mindset, identifying and removing obstacles to support team progress.
  • Collaborative approach, sharing knowledge and credit to build trust and credibility.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts.
  • Capable of breaking down complex problems and estimating development tasks with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Ability to identify and report potential business opportunities during customer interactions.
  • Flexibility to work across different shifts and availability for occasional travel within Latam.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Execute and oversee engineering documentation for ongoing and new projects.
  • Identify and address risks and opportunities, resolving issues and implementing corrective actions as part of project teams.
  • Conduct technical meetings, perform expert analyses, and support commissioning activities during customer visits.
  • Participate in technical team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and training activities.
  • Coordinate the ECR and ECO processes for products deployed in your designated region as System Engineer.
  • Support root cause analysis for issues affecting products in your assigned region.
  • Assist in negotiating changes in scope, cost, and lead times with customers, while ensuring internal alignment with the management and project teams for necessary approvals.
  • Ensure deliverables are aligned with the intended project outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of procedures.
  • Adhere to internal company policies, procedures, and values, embracing our culture of People First, Expand the Possible, Embrace Diversity, and One Wabtec.
  • You may occasionally be asked to support tasks outside your primary scope, provided they are aligned with your qualifications and local labor regulations. Appropriate training will be provided when necessary.
