Role Overview
An experienced
Workshop Manager (Joinery)
is required to manage and lead day-to-day workshop operations. This role is ideally suited to a
skilled joiner or cabinetmaker
who has progressed into a
Workshop Foreman or Supervisor
position and has hands-on experience managing people, production, and quality within a joinery manufacturing environment.
The role requires strong technical credibility, clear communication, and the ability to manage workflow, standards, and delivery within a structured production environment.
English language proficiency at C1 level is a non-negotiable requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop & Team Management
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate a workshop team of approximately 12 operatives
- Plan daily and weekly workloads in line with production schedules
- Monitor productivity, quality, and adherence to deadlines
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and workshop best practices
- Act as the primary interface between the workshop and senior joinery management
Production & Technical Oversight
- Manage the manufacture of high-quality joinery using
hardwoods and veneers - Work from
cut-lists provided by the Production Manager - Interpret and work from technical drawings (PDF and DWG formats)
- Oversee job sequencing, machine utilisation, and workflow efficiency
- Identify and resolve production or quality issues
Machinery Knowledge
A strong working understanding of standard joinery machinery is required, including:
- CNC machinery
- Edge banding machines
- Spindle moulders
- Thicknessers
- Panel saws
(CNC programming or CAD/CAM experience is not required.)
Finishes Knowledge
- Hands-on spraying is
not required - Must have a solid understanding of finishing processes and quality standards to manage inspection and control
Systems & Administration
- Use an ERP/MRP job management system for booking time, issuing materials, and tracking progress (training provided)
- Maintain accurate production records
- Communicate effectively using email and collaboration tools
Essential Skills & Experience
Trade & Leadership Background
- Time-served joiner or cabinetmaker
- Experience as a Workshop Foreman, Supervisor, or Workshop Manager
- Proven ability to manage workshop teams and production environments
Language
- English – C1 level (essential)
IT Skills – Day-One Essentials
- Email and collaboration tools (e.g. Teams)
- File sharing and document management
- Annotating and marking up PDFs (Adobe, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Microsoft Excel for tracking and production control (filters, basic formulas, pivots)
- Viewing and marking up technical drawings (PDF/DWG)
Advantageous (Not Essential)
- Previous experience with ERP/MRP manufacturing systems
Training & Support
- Training provided on the centralised ERP/MRP system
- Ongoing support from senior joinery management
Package
- Salary:
Up to
€70,000 per annum
, based on a 44-hour working week - Salary may be adjusted if full relocation support is required at the start
- Permanent position
- Start date: Subject to availability and notice period
- Probation period: As per company policy
