Energy Project Developer Manager

Professional responsible for leading the greenfield development of renewable energy projects in Chile, managing the full lifecycle from early-stage site identification to RTB (Ready-to-Build). This role ensures projects advance through environmental, technical, commercial, and regulatory milestones while coordinating cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. Acts as the key interface between landowners, authorities, communities, engineering teams, and corporate leadership to secure viable, bankable, and compliant projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Greenfield Development & Site Identification
- Identify, assess, and secure new project sites (solar, wind, storage).
- Conduct early-stage feasibility assessments, including grid access, irradiation/wind resource, land conditions, and permitting risks.
- Lead landowner negotiations, secure land options/leases, and manage contractual obligations.
- Coordinate with advisors on legal, environmental, and social viability of new sites.
2. Environmental, Permitting & Regulatory Management
- Lead the preparation and submission of DIA/EIA environmental processes.
- Ensure compliance with Chilean environmental, territorial, and sectoral regulations.
- Manage sectoral permitting (SEREMI, DGA, SAG, CONAF, SEC, Municipalities).
- Track regulatory changes (SEN/CEN) that may impact the project pipeline.
- Coordinate with permitting consultants and ensure high-quality deliverables.
3. Grid Connection & Technical Coordination
- Lead connection feasibility evaluations with CEN distribution/transmission companies.
- Manage application processes for grid connection (Estudios de Conexión, Informes de Factibilidad, etc.).
- Coordinate internally and externally the key engineering studies (interconnection, topographic, geotechnical, electrical design).
- Ensure technical consistency between environmental, engineering, and commercial requirements.
4. Stakeholder, Community & Landowner Engagement
- Act as primary point of contact for landowners, municipalities, local communities, and authorities.
- Support community engagement strategies to ensure social viability.
- Manage early-phase communication plans and address concerns proactively.
- Build and maintain strong relationships that support long-term project success.
5. Project Management & RTB Delivery
- Oversee project timelines, milestones, and critical-path activities.
- Prepare internal investment cases, risk assessments, and development reports.
- Ensure smooth handover of projects from development to construction/engineering teams.
- Maintain a robust pipeline of greenfield opportunities aligned with corporate strategy.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
- Postgraduate studies in renewable development, project management, or regulation are a strong plus.
Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in renewable project development
(solar, wind, BESS). - Proven track record taking projects
from greenfield to RTB
in Chile. - Strong understanding of land agreements, permitting processes, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience interacting with landowners, authorities, consultants, and engineering teams.
- Knowledge of Chilean environmental legislation, CEN/SEN grid processes, and permitting pathways.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong project management and organizational capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and external consultants.
- Business-oriented mindset with a focus on risk mitigation and value creation.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Advanced English is a plus.
