Senior Back End Developer

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Xe is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help evolve our world-class money transfer platform, with a strong focus on both corporate and consumer customers. You'll report to the Director of Software Engineering and work across backend systems, modern cloud infrastructure, and emerging AI developer tools. While full-stack experience is important, this role places particular emphasis on back-end design excellence and close collaboration with front end and product teams. Our current stack includes C# .NET, , AWS, GitHub CI/CD, and modern testing frameworks. We encourage engineers to propose new technologies that improve performance, scalability, or developer experience — especially those with potential for adoption across our global tech function. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and efficient software systems.
• Contribute to technical direction, system architecture, and platform evolution as a collaborative team member.
• Work closely with front end developers and product manager to deliver elegant, user-focused solutions.
• Drive rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development to validate ideas and accelerate decision-making.
• Use AI tools to speed up delivery, improve code quality, and support knowledge sharing across the team.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Optimise systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Review code, mentor teammates, and promote engineering excellence.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and assess their potential for adoption across the tech organisation.
• Participate in agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend or full-stack engineering.
• Strong back-end development skills and experience working with design teams.
• Experience with C# .NET is essential.
• Proficiency in Vue3.Js is nice to have
• Proven track record in building RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of AWS, including serverless architecture.
• Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimisation.
• Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies, including AI-powered developer tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with AI-assisted development environments or tools that enhance engineering speed, collaboration, and code quality.
• Familiarity with GitHub CI/CD workflows.
• Experience in fintech or payment systems.
• Strong SQL skills for relational database work.
