Supplemental Academic Facilitator

Program Overview:

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program designed to help students succeed in challenging courses. As a SI Leader, you will be a student or recent graduate who has excelled in the targeted class. Your role will involve sharing effective study strategies with students and attending the same class every day to take notes and listen closely to the professor.

Main Responsibilities:
• Participate in intensive training to develop your leadership and facilitation skills
• Attend all class sessions and serve as a model student
• Conduct group study sessions to help students understand complex course material
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate content and learning skills
• Collect data for program evaluation to measure success
• The above list of duties is not exhaustive; other responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the program and the college

Compensation and Schedule:
• Pay rate: $15.00/hour
• Schedule: days and times vary based on course schedule and candidate availability, up to 28 hours per week

Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Some college coursework required
• Must have a grade of A or B in the targeted class
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students and employees
