Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join HITACHI ENERGY CHILE S.A. as a Senior Engineering Operations Lead. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead our engineering team.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of designers and engineers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions to customers. You will formulate plans, allocate resources, and ensure compliance with standard processes and procedures.

You will also oversee progress within your area of responsibility, identify and manage technical issues, and drive team performance to meet agreed contractual and financial targets.

Main Accountabilities
  • Technical Contribution: Define and implement operating guidelines for the team, oversee progress, and identify and manage technical issues.
  • Customer and Sales: Ensure delivery of technical solutions according to customer requirements, drive development of processes based on customer feedback, and provide engineering support during the bid phase.
  • Contract Management: Oversee contractual work within your area of responsibility, conduct regular progress reviews, and identify and manage contractual risks.
  • Planning and Control: Ensure that the engineering team is adequately resourced, developed, and equipped to meet business needs, assign tasks correctly, and define relevant performance metrics.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Ensure completion of risk assessments and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions across projects.
  • Supply Chain Management: Collaborate with the Supply Chain function to ensure correct suppliers services and equipment are available to support engineering execution.
  • Technical Leadership and Development: Facilitate best practice sharing within the engineering team.
  • Processes and Tools: Develop and drive continuous improvement activities to improve processes, policies, procedures, and effectiveness within your area of responsibility.
  • People Leadership and Development: Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled, and directed, guide, motivate, coach, and develop direct and indirect subordinates.
  • Finance and Budget: Participate in defining the annual budget for your area of responsibility and be accountable for managing performance against agreed financial targets and constraints.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g., engineering, management).
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality results and leading teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 per annum, plus benefits such as health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
