As a CE Field Service Engineer at Microsoft, you will play a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services, including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.

Our data center operations are focused on ensuring compliance with data center business units and service-level policies. You will engage with appropriate teams and resources to execute tasks or projects, manage programs, and adhere to budget requirements.

Additionally, you will be responsible for maximizing Critical Environment (CE) availability, overseeing day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, and reducing high-impact and human-error Critical Environment incidents.

As a successful candidate, you will be a team player who shares best practices, assists others in learning the role, and provides mentorship across data centers. You will also hold yourself accountable for end-to-end service quality, completeness, and resulting customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensures compliance with data center business units and service-level policies.
  2. Engages with appropriate teams and resources to execute tasks or projects.
  3. Manages programs associated with area of responsibility.
  4. Maximizes Critical Environment (CE) availability.
  5. Oversees day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  6. Reduces high-impact and human-error Critical Environment incidents.
  7. Supports delivery of the Datacenter's Emergency Preparedness and Response plans.
  8. Coordinates, plans, schedules, and supervises CE audits and compliance verification.
  9. Evaluates and enhances strong working relationships and engagement with our Engineering Groups (EGs) and Landlord partners.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of industry experience in a datacenter or other critical environment facility, or 3+ years of industry experience and college coursework.
  • 2+ years of experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU) or working in physical IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling).
  • Technical College degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in Critical Environment infrastructures (e.g., UPS, Generator, AHU) or IT infrastructures (e.g., Servers, SANs, Networking, Capacity, DC Rack/Enclosures, structured cabling).
  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical College certification in mechanical or electrical engineering and/or services.
  • Experience working on large scale CE projects.
  • Experience with the operation of IT infrastructure (Servers, SANs, Networking, etc.).
