We're seeking an experienced Mechanical/Process Engineer to join our engineering team in Santiago, Chile. The ideal candidate will have English language skills to work effectively in a multicultural environment and international projects (interviews will be conducted in English).
Job Summary
- Design and Engineering Support: Collaborate with the project team to review designs and provide engineering support during site activities.
- Documentation and Review: Prepare and review project documents, including drawings, budgets, schedules, and startup/commissioning reports. Ensure accuracy and adherence to technical requirements.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Liaise between internal stakeholders, project teams, and client teams, facilitating clear communication and coordination across all phases of site projects.
- Technical Guidance: Provide direct support and technical input to data center services and operations teams, defining design requirements and ensuring project milestones meet regional standards.
- Site-Specific Adaptation: Address engineering requests, manage project-specific issues, and resolve technical challenges in collaboration with the engineering team to meet project requirements.
- Quality Assurance and Control: Maintain high standards in quality and control procedures, support vendor teams in technical resolutions, and oversee testing and commissioning.
- Vendor Management: Experience associated with construction and project execution (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, and RFI and submittal tracking).
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering or equivalent.
- Knowledge of local (Chilean) technical norms and standards related to water systems, fire protection, hazardous substances handling, and safety design.
- 8+ years of experience involved in industrial critical projects (data center, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, laboratory, power, water, etc.).
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of cooling, diesel generators, fire protection, piping systems in large-scale construction projects, and ability to oversee multidisciplinary teams effectively.
- Full professional fluency in English and Spanish is required to communicate complex technical concepts clearly with international stakeholders, vendors, and teams.
- Proven track record in hyperscale and mission-critical projects, preferably within data center or mechanical industrial projects.
- Physically able to work on-site in a construction environment.
The estimated annual salary for this role is approximately $120,000-$150,000 based on industry standards in Santiago, Chile.
