Job Description
The Senior Substation Engineer will lead in the preparation of proposals and scope development, including conceptual designs and execution plans. Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the execution of engineering activities, including physical substation design and protection and control design.
- Developing and improving processes, tools, and technology implementations.
- Providing leadership, training, and mentoring to less experienced engineers and team members.
- Regularly meeting and corresponding with clients or outside personnel.
- Performing quality reviews for other engineers and designers.
- Providing short-term field support during construction.
- Supporting business development and marketing initiatives.
- Other areas of involvement may include relay settings, 3D modeling/design, or industry/professional technical committee involvement.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
- A minimum of 5+ years related experience (completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience).
- Professional Engineer registration is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code and IEEE/ANSI Standard.
- Strong preference for those with excellent written-verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the capability of solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard approaches, techniques, procedures, and criteria.
