Antofagasta, Chile ESO European Sourthern Observatory A tiempo completo

The European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere (ESO) is the foremost intergovernmental astronomy organisation in Europe and the world’s most productive ground-based astronomical observatory. ESO carries out an ambitious programme focused on the design, construction and operation of powerful ground-based observing facilities enabling astronomers to make important scientific discoveries.

ESO operates three unique world-class observing sites in northern Chile: La Silla, Paranal and Chajnantor (home to ALMA), and the ESO Headquarters are located in Garching, near Munich, Germany.

At Paranal, ESO operates the Very Large Telescope, the world's most advanced visible-light astronomical observatory, and will host and operate the southern array of the Cherenkov Telescope Array, the world’s largest and most sensitive high energy gamma-ray observatory. ESO is a major partner in ALMA, and on Cerro Armazones, ESO is building the 39-metre Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), which will become "the world's biggest eye on the sky" and whose operations will be fully integrated into the Paranal Observatory.

The ELT Assembly, Integration & Verification (AIV) Phase has been running over several years, performed by a team of engineers led by the AIV Manager, and it is evolving following the design developments of the new telescope subsystems. The on-site AIV phase started in 2021 when the first components were received in Chile, with more components arriving continuously.

Due to the need for additional resources associated with ELT-AIV Phase within the ELT programme, for the AIV On-site Project Office, within the Directorate of Programmes at the La Silla Paranal Observatory, near Antofagasta, Chile; ESO is advertising a local staff position of:
**ELT - AIV CMMS Planner**

The ELT CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) Planner will support the ELT AIV team by overseeing two important aspects during the AIV (Assembly, Integration and Verification) and early operations of the ELT. The first responsibility will be to ensure the configuration, status, and location of delivered ELT assets are up-to-date, consistent and under control. The second responsibility is to plan and manage the regular maintenance activities within the AIV tasks, under the coordination with the AIV Manager.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**:
Interfacing with ERP and Systems Engineering colleagues in Europe, consolidating, and uploading into the CMMS tool all relevant information of the ELT assets arriving on site.

Keeping the information of ELT assets in the CMMS up to date including location, composition, status, and history, whilst ensuring that any changes are properly reported, tracked, and implemented in the tool.

Liaise with technical experts in Garching to develop the maintenance procedures of the delivered ELT assets to create the associated job-plans, preventive maintenance activities, and work-orders in the CMMS tool.

Align the execution of maintenance activities of ELT assets with ELT AIV Planner to incorporate them in the overall AIV schedule of the ELT.

Coordinate with the ELT local service contractor(s) the proper execution of maintenance tasks according to the overall ELT schedule, under the overall coordination of the ELT AIV Manager.

Assist the ELT PA/QA Manager in keeping the Quality of the ELT construction under control by performing the following tasks:

- Support the AIV team in performing inspections of delivered items and of ongoing processes.
- Assure the documentation is under control and correctly maintained.
- Using the JIRA tool, trace the non-conformances of the ELT project in Chile.

Perform acceptances of items in collaboration with AIV and the project team.

Monitor performance and suggest process improvements.
