The IOT Automation Engineer is responsible for digitalizing electrical and controls systems of mining equipment’s and design the system architecture related to Metso Outotec mining solutions. The position requires significant knowledge of cutting-edge technology related to industrial electrical engineering, process control design, network architecture, local and cloud connectivity and MES/ERP integrations.
As IOT automation engineer you will have the opportunity to design and develop a cutting-edge system that will enable the equipment to communicate to cloud systems as well as to local systems and data loggers, this will typically include preparation of design or development of specifications, electrical drawings, system architecture and deployment. The Engineer will have the responsibility to develop and maintain Metso Outotec’s standard product portfolio according to the product roadmap and develop specific solutions for our customers. This position will work in close collaboration with a team of Automation Engineers, data scientists and partners. Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills are required as the Engineer will have frequent interactions with internal / external customers, and suppliers while supporting product development and customer projects.

Main responsibilities and tasks
- Ability to conceptualize, design, develop, test, and productize automation systems in an industrial environment.
- Develop new electrical panels, automation, and control system.
- Develop scalable process control architectures for OEM machines.
- Develop standard for reusable control systems architecture.
- Review customer specifications and identify deviations and exceptions as required.
- Produce technically sound designs that meet the product requirements and address the end users use case needs.
- Ensure final design meets accepted specifications.
- Organize their own activity and partners activities for the delivery of internal and external projects
- Evaluate components and vendor partners for process control equipment and services.
- Communicate effectively with the product development team to understand machine requirements.
- Maintains awareness of current state-of-the-art technologies and trends in electrical engineering and automation and implement product improvement ideas to maintain a cost and technically competitive standard offerings.
- Troubleshoot electrical power and control systems
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, reacting quickly to issues.

**To succeed, you will need**:
Automation Engineering Degree

Relevant experience in mining (preferred) or industrial automation.

Fluent English is mandatory.

Experience developing programming languages, process control systems and data management.
Experience in development implementation of industrial communication protocols, Modbus, Profinet.. etc.
Experience in Electrical CAD software environments.
Experience with configuring and troubleshooting industrial controls systems and industrial instrumentation.
Experience in project management is a plus
