Authorization Specialist II

**BC Forward is looking for **Authorization Specialist II (Remote)**

**Position Title: Authorization Specialist II (Remote)**

**Location : REMOTE - FL (EST/CST)**
**Anticipated Start Date: 10/23**
**Expected Duration: 6 months**
**Job Type: Contract with possible extension**
**Shift: (Tuesday through Saturday (hours would be between 7 am and 7 pm - 8-hour shifts), (overtime available on a weekly basis)**
**Pay rate: $19.00/hr on W2**
**Need: Min 1-2 years of experience with Medical Terminnology and Data Entry (Min 60WPM). Must go through a Data Entry Assesment and must secure TYPING SPEED - 60WPM**

Position Purpose:
Acts as a resource and supports the prior authorization request process to ensure that all authorization requests are addressed properly in the contractual timeline. Supports utilization management team to document authorization requests and obtain accurate and timely documentation for services related to the members healthcare eligibility and access.

Working within multiple systems (FaxCom, TruCare, Microsoft Platforms, etc.) to review authorization requests from providers.
If the request does not have enough detail, a fax must be sent back to the provider to gather additional details.
May be requested to complete stretch assignments or jump into assist in other areas based on work volumes.
Open to change and being able to work through changes in business.

30 - 35 authorization request(s) REQUIRED per day

Required Skills/Experience:
Requires 1 - 2 years of related experience.
Detail oriented
Accountability
Must be able to work with multiple systems at a time
Strong understanding of computers / technology

Education/Experience:
Requires a High School diploma or GED
Requires 1 - 2 years of related experience.

Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance preferred.Aids the utilization management team and maintains ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on authorizations and referrals in accordance with policies and guidelines

Supports the authorization review process by researching and documenting necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and prognosis based on the referral to the clinical reviewer for determination

Verifies member insurance coverage and/or service/benefit eligibility via system tools and aligns authorization with the guidelines to ensure a timely adjudication for payment

Performs data entry to maintain and update various authorization requests into utilization management system

Supports and processes authorization requests for services in accordance with the insurance prior authorization list and routes to the appropriate clinical reviewer

Remains up-to-date on healthcare, authorization processes, policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned

Complies with all policies and standards
