Superintendent 2

Manages projects against plans to ensure budget, schedule, and quality are met and projects are completed as per design requirements/specifications. Ensures that staffing, equipment, and materials are available according to project timelines. Manages work performance on projects to ensure craft workers are following project rules and company work and safety procedures. Reviews, negotiates, and approves change orders. Develops and implements plans for project completion and turnover. For those with union projects and employees, reviews and approves the balance of forepersons, journeymen, and laborer’s composite labor rates. Maintains continuous, open communication with the firm's management, clients, and subcontractors. Advises concerned stakeholders regarding project status including, but not limited to construction challenges or delays, supply chain issues, and/or start-up issues. Partners with engineering, estimating, and planning team members to ensure work complies with firm standards and client requirements. Develops programs and processes to maintain strong client relationships with staff on job sites. Initiates and attends meetings with clients to conduct project planning and to resolve issues that arise during project completion. Manages the day-to-day activity of all construction project staff. Provides feedback on performance appraisals. Manages the training and development of staff. Approves paid time off (PTO) requests and ensures human resources policies are followed. Provides mentoring to junior superintendents and craft forepersons. For those supervising union employees - ensures that all performance evaluations are completed in a timely manner per union contracts, and reviews, approves and/or rejects promotions for union staff. Performs quality control inspections and reviews of plans and specifications for quality assurance. Pulls construction permits. Completes other project-related documentation including coding invoices for job costing, preparing project status and progress reports, and other project-related paperwork. Oversees and approves monthly job cost updates and provides quarterly cash flow projections. Maintains daily project tracking logs. Performs other duties as required.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- High school diploma or equivalent. 8 years of related experience with at least 2 of those years in construction management/supervision. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a college degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

**Certification/License Requirements**
- Journeyman Electrician

**Driver's License Requirements**
- An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.

**Amount of Travel Required**
- 50%

**Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Excellent planning and organizational skills. Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills and user knowledge of construction-specific, accounting, or project management software. Advanced knowledge of construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, and other standard construction procedures. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Advanced ability to learn and implement various processes regarding CDM Smith policies, procedures, and software programs. Advanced leadership capacity overseeing field crews (preferably those working on infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, dams, water/wastewater treatment plants, etc.). Advanced ability to identify and quickly troubleshoot problems and issues within a construction environment.
