Position Name: Temporary Replacement Media Center Assistant
Reports to: Media Center Director
Time commitment: Full-time
The Media Center Assistant provides support for the Media Center and ensures that it is an
extension of the classroom by helping students, staff and faculty to develop the information literacy
skills needed for their academic and professional success.
- Supports the daily operations and does the day-a-day tasks needed under the direction of
the Library Director.
- Works closely and liaises with the teachers to provide support for inquiry learning, literacy
programs access to collections and general use of the library.
- Helps users in ways that support inquiry learning, access to research databases, use of
technology and reading for pleasure.
- Contributes to promotional programmes of the Media Center services.

**Preferred Qualifications and Experiences**
Studying or graduating from a Bachelor's Degree.- Academic studies in Librarianship or Social Sciences, preferred.
- Library services experience or/and interest
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Excel.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Google Software (Docs, Sheet, Forms, Slides).
- High level of English and Spanish proficiency required.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
The Media Center Assistant contributes to create a teaching and learning environment that is fun,
welcoming, safe, flexible and collaborative for the development of study and the empowerment of
the Nido learning community.
- Prepare and maintain the resources and collections for their agile access and use: Process
new and donated materials (with supervised cataloging), cover, label, stamp, typing and
attaching strips, spin labels and barcodes.
- Organize and shelve books and other library materials to their specific locations and ensure
all shelved items are in the correct location and sequence.
- Helps users in ways that support inquiry learning, access to research databases, use of
technology and reading for pleasure.
- Borrowing Service:
- Prepare loans: select the material, check-out process..
- Prepare, review and send reports.
- Return materials and shelve items.
- Repair damaged books and realize Collections Inventory.
- Prepare and maintain Reference recommendations files and curated reading lists.
- Helps with the redaction of services’ protocols (under supervision).
- Promotes the ethical use of information by sharing and teaching research skills.
- Demonstrate an Intrinsic motivation and cultural awareness to participate in activities and
- engage in cross divisional learning initiatives.- Work closely and collaboratively with Nido staff and faculty to ensure initiatives do not
interfere with core academic activities.
