The purpose of the role is to support and assist the Manager - Safety, Sustainability & Technical Operations (Shipping) to provide and bring strong ocean freight technical, procedural and regulatory experience and knowledge to the Shipping Division.

Responsible for providing marine expertise to Anglo American business units in Chile and Peru to ensure the safety of shipping operations & protection of our assets. Responsible for carrying out asset assurance checks on vessels calling Chile, Peru and Brazil terminals appointed to carry our equity including carrying out incident investigations & providing recommendations, stakeholders engagement in marine-related matters & overall safety of shipping operations.

**Key tasks**:
**Safety, Health & Environmen**t

- Implementing safety procedures, standards and processes across both company’s chartered fleet of vessels calling ports in Chile, Peru and Brazil.
- Carrying out a physical safety inspection on ships upon their arrival, noting the risks and having it addressed effectively during the ship’s port stay.
- Monitor, review port operational practices and engage with relevant port stakeholders to address the operational safety improvement opportunities.
- Extending the company’s safety and crew care initiatives during the visits.
- Undertaking Occupational health and safety, casualty, accident, and pollution incident investigation.

**Performance & Delivery **(required for all roles)
- Provide technical backup to the commercial team where required.
- Checking of passage plans to ensure vessel sailing passage is well planned and has all the hazards marked.
- Overseeing towage operations, marine pilotage, berthing and mooring/unmooring operations, port/ship interface and port operations
- Ensuring a smooth and cost-efficient operation of vessels through the ports by minimizing total time in port.
- Identifying and reporting on vessel quality gaps between RightShip vetting levels and actual vessel standards.
- Working directly with ports to ensure the operations are done safely and efficiently
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements, making recommendations, and implementing changes.
- Working with the operations and chartering team to review stowage plans and loading sequences.
- Assist the shipping team in the nomination process of the vessels to the port for acceptance.
- Stay on the vessel during operations for cargo monitoring.

- Adherence to all Anglo American Group and Marketing policies and procedures, as well as observing proper standards of conduct relating to the role.
- Comply with Anglo American Security and Operating Standards
- Carry out desktop vetting in compliance with Anglo American global vetting policy for all to be charte
