Middle School Counselling Secretary

We are looking to hire someone for the flexible position of **Middle School Guidance Secretary **for

the next school year (2023-2024), according to the following skills and qualifications:
**Position Details**
Position Name: Middle School Guidance Secretary
Reports to: Middle School Principal
Time commitment: Part-time, 20 hours per week, 8:00 - 12:00 daily

**Qualifications and Experience**
Professional Qualifications appropriate to the position- A minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluency in English and Spanish, oral, reading and writing
- Excellent computer skills including using databases, the Google Suite, Excel
- Experience developing a school schedule, and ideally, experience with PowerSchool
- Excellent time management skills and organizational skills

- Ability to communicate effectively with MS students, teachers and parents
- Good problem solving skills and flexibility
- A self starter who can prioritize the workload in a busy environment
- Can maintain confidentiality

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Manages the counseling office
- Building and managing the Middle School schedule
- Making schedule changes for students as needed
- Uses PowerSchool to create reports about student data to MS colleagues as needed
- Maintains student records
- Collaborates with the counselors and admissions team to ensure smooth transitions
- entering and leaving Nido- Communicates and liaises with teachers about new students
- Liaises with teachers and admissions regarding placement testing of new students and
- withdrawals of leaving students- Liaises with parents in all matters regarding their students’ school life and well being
- Collaborates with and assists the MS Principal and Assistant Principal
- Supports counselors with administrative duties including ongoing communication and

networking with other departments in the school (ie. facilities, accounts, admission, HR,
General services, technology)
- Contributes to the ethos and culture of middle school
- Contributes to a warm and welcoming environment for students and staff
- High level of organizational skills to preempt programmatic needs to support Counselors
- Support Counselors with Spanish/English translation with Psychologists
