**YOUR POSITION WITH TNC**:
The Conservation Practitioner performs and participates in preserve operations including the maintenance, management, development and coordination of conservation programs.
**This is a 2-year fixed-term contract.**
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
The Conservation Practitioner’s job includes the implementation of conservation activities in the field, collaboration in scientific
Analysis, and support on the development of institutional schemes for marine conservation, including communication responsibility with a
variety of stakeholders. It also includes supporting the Ocean strategy in administrative and financial management and the monitoring of contracts and agreements as well as the support and development of logistic activities necessary for the development of events, training, field days, and trips for professionals of the strategy and guests that are required. Work is done mainly in the office but with an important component in the field (monitoring). He/she will work under the supervision of the Ocean Scientist.
Other important functions include supporting other conservation strategies in TNC as needed, supporting the operating plans of the strategy and implementing action for its improvement, coordinately with the Ocean Chile Team, preparing and managing requests of contracts and amendments to contracts in accordance with the guidelines of the supervisors and previous approval of the Ocean Scientist, carry out processes of purchase and acquisitions of goods and services of the strategy with the guidelines of the technical team and SOP´s, maintain updated the contracts and agreements database, including products due to date and related payments, give alerts of the administrative compliance and maintain organized the general archive of the strategy.
**RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE**:
- Financial responsibility may include working within a budget to complete projects, negotiating and contracting with vendors, assisting with budget development and fundraising targets.
- May work under mínimal and/or distant supervision; may make some independent decisions based on analysis, experience and context.
- May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Marine Biologist and 1 year of related experience in marine conservation and working with communities, fisheries or similar fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with natural systems.
- Relationship-building experience to work closely with a variety of partners, i.e., media, government officials, and internal scientists.
- Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).
- Must have valid driver's license.
- Medium to advanced English language required (reading, speaking and writing)
- Have a complete COVID-19 vaccination scheme upon hiring
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
- 1 - 2 years related experience in custodial and ecological land management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of ecological coastal management principles
- Knowledge/understanding of current trends and practices in conservation, land management and natural resource preservation/conservation or similar field.
- Communicating clearly via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
**AUTO SAFETY POLICY**:
