This position is located in the Spanish Unit of the Documents and Publications Division at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago. The Reviser works under the general supervision of the Director of Documents and Publications Division and the direct supervision of the Chief of the Spanish Unit.

**Responsibilities**:
Within delegated authority, the Reviser will be responsible for the following duties:

- Translates and edits texts, revises translations and edited documents, on a self-revised basis,
- Drafts reports, on a self-revised basis, works as précis-writer and serves as monitor of précis-writing teams in meetings held at ECLAC, Chile, or abroad.
- Participates in the setting of terminology standards.
- Assists in the management of the Unit as required and ensures that work and activities are carried out in a timely fashion and in accordance with required standards, coordinating work with other Units and Divisions.
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
- Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Education
A first-level degree from a university or institution of equivalent status is required.

Job - Specific Qualification

Work Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in translation, précis-writing, self-revision and use of relevant computer software, electronic tools and databases is required.

A minimum of two years of experience in translation, précis-writing, self-revision within the United Nations is required.

Proven experience in translating and revising mid-level technical texts in the fields of economics, finance and social affairs is desirable.

One (1) year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Languages
Applicants must also have fluency in English as tested by the relevant United Nations language competitive examination.
Knowledge of one other official United Nations language as tested by the relevant United Nations language competitive examination is desirable.
