Org. Setting and Reporting
- Responsibilities
- Within delegated authority, the Senior Security Officer will be responsible for the following duties: -Conducts daily briefings and assign officers to various functions or posts. - In the event of emergencies and incidents, alerts relevant units and dispatch security personnel to the site under the direction of the Sergeant in charge of the Control Centers. - Upon instructions of direct supervisor, carries out inspections of different posts to make sure that respective equipment and security measures are functioning and efficient. -Examines routine reports prepared by subordinates and certifies their accuracy. -Assists in cases of investigation, recommending action to be taken. -Makes recommendations to the supervising officer on operational matters. -Briefs officers under command of possible security threats and related operational plans. -Assumes control of specific areas as assigned during periods of heightened security. -Counsels, coaches and mentors' officers under command. -Provides input for the performance evaluation of security personnel under command. -Prepares written reports of related security incidents. -Makes recommendations on basic security operation. -Performs all other related duties as required.

- Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat and Spanish is a working language of ECLAC. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written Spanish is required. Intermediate level of English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
