Deskside Technician II

LOCATION

SAN RAMON

Robert Half is seeking a Deskside Technician II who will provide OS support for corporate users. They install, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on, and supply, and inventory personal computers and related equipment. They work with technical support and other IT teams to detect and rectify system performance problems that affect the productivity of corporate users. Typically, they identify areas for improvement and coordinate the deployment of technology solutions. In some locations, they may be responsible for modifying, repairing, and conducting preventative maintenance on other IT equipment and related systems. They may set up, coordinate, and monitor the operation of IT equipment associated with a data center. They perform other troubleshooting activities as required.

Specific responsibilities will include:

- General knowledge of proper escalation procedures.
- Strong understanding of corporate policies.
- Coordinate configuration of corporate printers and non-standard peripherals.
- Ensure proper set up of hardware for training rooms, presentations, and off-site venues.
- Contact vendors regarding problematic equipment still under warranty.
- Basic Active Directory tasks.
- Submits request to access network resources (network shares/folders, mailboxes, distribution lists and calendars).
Deer Park (DPK)/Boston (BOS):

- Install and support non-IT equipment in corporate and field offices (Menlo Park also).
- Participate in maintenance and troubleshooting activities related to network and telephony systems in corporate and field offices. May include installing hubs, switches, routers, and phone system support.
- In coordination with other IT groups, participate in troubleshooting exercises related to end user performance problems. May provide periodic reports related to IT activities to non-IT groups.
- Provide facility report in Daily Health Check meeting.
- Handle property management issues involving building mechanical systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing and security.
- Completes IDX forms for new hires, transfers, and termination.
DPK only:

- Monitor daily status of NBF system.
- Recover timesheets as requested by FSC and other IT groups.
- Review backup jobs and perform data restores.
- Coordinate offsite media storage.
- Provide occasional support for Data Center equipment when DCO staff is unavailable.
BOS only:

- Train new employees on computer and phone systems.

Menlo Park only:

- Provide Executive support to MPK users on site.
- Support MPK on a weekly basis onsite.
- Onsite support for quarterly earnings, Stars, and other special events with executive team.
- Ability to manage all efforts in other offices within MPK.
- Flexibility to travel to office in the event of an emergency.
- Ability to provide remote support to the office.

Qualifications:

- High School diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years’ of recent experience supporting windows based PC’s.
- Desired certifications or equivalent experience: A+, CNA, MCSE, Apple Certified Technician (ACDT), Apple Certified Portable Technician (ACPT), Cisco strongly encouraged.
- Proficiency and expertise in Microsoft Windows XP, Mac OS X is a plus, Office Suite and network architecture.
- Familiarity with window Terminal Services and basic network concepts (DHCP, DNS, WINS), LAN/WAN, antivirus systems, RDP, VPN and wireless.
DPK & BOS: Familiarity with building mechanical systems.
