Desk Editor

Reuters is looking for an energetic journalist with strong news judgment to fill a temporary position on a team covering a wide range of breaking news.

This role will help evaluate the use of machine-assisted translation on the Spanish Language Service and be part of a team divided between Santiago de Chile and Mexico City.

**About the role**

As our Desk Editor, you will:

- Review the quality of machine-assisted translations and provide feedback on areas for improvement
- Work with a global team overseeing the project
- Assist with other duties on the Spanish Language Service as directed, including monitoring external media and other sources to ensure fast breaking news coverage

**About you**

To be our Desk Editor, you should have:

- At least two years’ experience as an editor or translator
- Strong interest in technology-assisted translation, ideally with some experience of existing tools
- Knowledge of global politics and sports, among other topics- Ability to work well in a team- Strong English communication skills

This is a full-time job that requires flexibility. You must be willing to work as part of a 24/7 rotating shift system, including weekends and public holidays.
