Latin America presents many growth opportunities for the Group, in particular for future-facing metals, however the political context has become more complex over recent years and tax is an increasingly important part of the Group´s licence to operate in our host countries.

**Job Description**:
This role will lead the Latin America tax team to contribute to and deliver on Group Tax´s strategy, vision and mission, delivering real value and supporting transformational change as the Group strives towards its Burning Ambition.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Leadership**
- Effectively lead the Americas team of 14 people in three countries, ensuring full management of team members and achievement of agreed business targets.
- Managing interactions with the local Tax Operations team and support them in their delivery of requirements
- Inspiring the team and shaping the tax team culture - lead by example to embed the group tax vision and behaviours.
- Ensure the tax team fully understands the strategy of Group Tax and how they contribute towards achieving it through their respective team and role.
- Lead and manage the identification of risks and opportunities in the region and oversee the development of solutions and actions as required to manage to deliver/ protect value for the Group in line with the group’s Tax Operating Model.
- Lead the identification, development and deployment of regional and group-wide projects and initiatives
**Business Partnering**
- Represent Latin America in consultations with governments, key industry and other lobbying groups
- Lead development and management of relationships with key personnel within the business units and ensure they understand the strategy, tax risk framework and vision of group tax
- Develop and enhance relationships with tax authorities
- Lead the creation of sustainable value through professional advice and planning in accordance with the group’s strategy and business principles.
- Lead and manage the provision of tax advice on major transactions, including acquisitions and disposals.
- Raise awareness of tax issues and leading the effective communication of these issues to management.
- Monitor external developments and determine and lead appropriate action.
**People & Teams**:

- Contribute to Group Tax´s people strategy
- Demonstrate behaviour in line with the Group’s values, standards and a professional workplace.
- Provide leadership to, and develop the performance of, your team in line with the Group’s policies and systems (e.g. performance management, talent management) in order to achieve business goals. As part of this:

- Develop a clear and aligned work plan for your team;
- Foster a constructive and productive working environment;
- Monitor the work of each team member and provide regular and useful feedback to them on how they are performing and
- Drive delivery of objectives including holding team members to account for their work.
- Participate as an effective team member in working collaboratively with your leader, peers and relevant others (including from other teams) to achieve business goals
- Monitor the activities of your team which involve other teams and appropriately intervene to address any cross-team issues
- Contribute to the broader business by working with others in such a way that it optimises the overall business results, rather than just your team’s
**Compliance and tax controversy**
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership for significant tax audits, disputes and tax litigations within the region
- Be accountable to the local Business Units for tax compliance and tax reporting
**Safety, Health & Environment**
- Demonstrate behaviour in line with health, safety and environmental standards and with the Group’s values
- Set the health, safety and environmental expectations for your team and monitor behaviour so that it meets the required standards
- Participate in relevant safety audits, inspections and observations, and address issues as part of demonstrating safety leadership
