**Position Summary**

Bechtel is seeking an Electrical Resident Engineer for the Mining & Metals team, based in Chile. The position is responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting coordinating and reviewing engineering work within a discipline on projects of medium size and complexity, or assignments in support of a global business unit. The role is also responsible for coordinating and interfacing as directed with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.

**Responsibilities**

The Electrical Resident Engineer is principally responsible for:

- Plans, schedules, conducts, coordinates and reviews engineering work within a discipline on projects of medium size and complexity or assignments in support of a global business unit.
- Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
- Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
- Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators).
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
- Performs work using Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and appropriate 2-D and 3-D computer aided design and computer aided engineering (CAD and CAE) tools.
- Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.
- Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
- Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.
- Mentors engineers, scientists, designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
- Promotes the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation of studies, reports, specifications, bid requests, and calculation.
- Prepares cost estimates and quantity take-offs
- Review and check work of colleagues
- Coordinate engineering effort between disciplines, with site team and Client
- Contact vendors and site team to gather or give required information
- Perform most assignments independently requiring minimum supervision
- Answer Requests for Information from Contractors

**Qualifications and Skills**

**Basic Qualifications**

The Electrical Resident Engineer shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:

- Must have a recognized engineering degree from an accredited College or University.
- Minimum of 8 years of design experience
- Practical experience in plant maintenance, construction or start-up is a must.
- Prior resident engineering experience
- Experience in Copper Concentrators
- Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the discipline.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
- Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved.
- Broad knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards, and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.

**Additional Qualifications**
- Good knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
- Very good communications (oral and written) skills
- Fluent in English
- Ability to make fast, effective and accurate decisions
- Strong leadership skills
