**Responsibilities**:
Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background and the internship period. Duties may include:

- Compiling statistics
- Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents
- Document, legal and internet research
- Assistance during conferences
- Provide assistance in preparing documents, presentations, graphs, and web pages updates.
- Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
- Perform other related duties as required.

Additionally, the Intern will also perform the following duties:

- Review and compilation of indicators from different databases related to use and management of non-renewable natural resources for Latin America and the Caribbean.
- Collect socio-environmental conflicts related qualitative and quantitative data for Latin America and the Caribbean, specially related to natural resources, resources governance, sustainable development, and the environment.
- Research and compilation of policy actions, case studies and good practices on governance of non-renewable natural resources in the region.
- Support in different investigation and bibliographic compilation on relevant topics in the region such as links between resource governance and socio-environmental conflicts in minerals and fossil fuels.
- Produces analytical, quantitative and qualitative elements required for the elaboration of documents and reports contained in the work programme work assigned to the Unit.

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
(a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,

(b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
- For this internship, studies in economics and/or in the areas of natural resource economics, environmental economics or in areas related to public policies for economic, social, and environmental sustainability.

Work Experience

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in Spanish is required. Knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language would be an asset.

NOTE: ''Fluency'' equals a rating of ''fluent'' in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and ¨knowledge of¨ equals a rating of ''confident'' in two of the four areas.
