**Job Description**:

- The Mining Group’s purpose is to provide value add technical solutions, out-of-the-box alternatives and support based on strategic and operational analysis of opportunities across the Group’s portfolio. This includes supporting the business units with high value Resource Development Planning (RDP) and integrated Life of Asset Planning (LOAP) solutions and continuous mine modernization through implementation of new technologies and systems.

This role integrates strategic plans, data and methodologies from across sustainability disciplines for evaluation and/or development in RDPs and LOAPs. It requires a breadth of cross-disciplinary understanding and a collaborative approach to influence and evolve thinking, to solve problems and to unlock opportunities.

The purpose if the role aims to support the development of holistic, value-accretive Resource Development Planning (RDP) and executable Life of Asset planning (LOAP) through:

- the collaborative integration of strategic sustainability objectives and initiatives
- exploring strategic options that maximize and/or can unlock maximum value for all stakeholders from the mining endowment,
- development of fit-for-purpose systems and processes that enable full-impact decision making; and,
- passionate advocacy for achievement of Anglo American’s purpose and sustainability objectives.

**What you will do**:

- Identify opportunities to create and maximize long-term value to Anglo American and it’s stakeholders
- Facilitate and coordinate embedding of the Anglo American Sustainable Mining Plan and it’s objectives and link to purpose within strategic plans (RDP and LOAP). This requires inputs from different levels of the organization including the Group Functions, Business Units and sites.
- Contribute to strategic guidance to ensure that the RDPs, LOAPs and Sustainable Mining Plan’s are aligned, integrated and designed in a way to create an enabling environment for the multi-decade outlook, at asset, BU and Portfolio levels.
- Deliver effective multi-discipline integration within strategic planning by involving sustainability stakeholders at critical stages.
- Review and ensure designs and schedules are optimized for sustainability value and impacts, compliance and/or sustainability risks are identified and mitigation proposed.
- Deliver consolidated sustainability outcomes for presentation to senior leadership.
- Support the development of best-practice standards for sustainability integration, including process and systems improvements across both strategic planning and sustainability functional processes
- Proactively develop sustainability awareness and knowledge within RDP and LOAP
- Be an ambassador for sustainability integration for Group Mining and other AA functions
- Support the review of sustainability Group Function processes, with a focus on their interaction with strategic planning
- Identify gaps in policy & system design, implementation or execution that are impacting sustainability integration effectiveness and/or on your performance and initiate action to address these issues.
- Qualifications
- A formal qualification in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline and/or relevant working experience within the mining industry.
