Copper Projects’ purpose is to provide the development and execution of our capital projects, in order to ensure a high level of confidence and predictability in the delivery of our existing and future operational opportunities and requirements.

It aims to resource all key projects and studies with the right team, to deliver on the agreed objectives and manage all project and engineering contractor relationships, providing specialist support across all Copper projects and studies in key areas of Project Management, Engineering Management and Business Services.

Lead efficiently the day-to-day management of a program of projects, to ensure safe completion of key targets including the study and execution phases and the hand over to the Operation, in order to achieve the Business Needs and Requirements.

**Job Description
- What you will do**:

- Be responsible and accountable for the development, oversight and reporting of a mine & infrastructure projects portfolio, consisting of 5 to 15 projects with an estimated capital expenditure of US$15 - $500 million.
- The project managers for the projects within the portfolio will report directly to you during the development phase of the project, and you will provide governance and support to project managers during execution.
- The program manager will be responsible for managing stakeholder engagement including operations, corporate affairs, SHE, Business Services and corporate Technical and Sustainability teams.
- Will be responsible for ensuring that engineering and project controls discipline standards and requirements are implemented in accordance with the requirements defined by the Business Services and the VP Engineering Manager.
- Will be responsible to ensure that the portfolio, under your accountability, is in coordination with pipeline and tailings programs to look for synergies and/or potential execution interferences in order to optimize and facilitate the execution.
- Will conduct optimization exercises in the studies and execution stages, incorporating all relevant factors and aspects such as social, permitting, cost-volume investment, schedule, ore body characteristics to maximize value.
- Lead the analysis and identification of opportunities to enable step changes in value realization by creating novel management and technical pathways for the integration and/or adaptation of execution cycle time activities
- Contribute to and lead aspects of the analysis and assessment of EPCMs, suppliers and intermediaries for the potential development of strategic commercial partnerships.
- Actively collaborate and integrate with design engineering, technical and project planning teams to shape the constructability profile of projects by introducing industry best practice and leading edge approaches to project design and execution.
- Develop and maintain a Project Execution Control framework to facilitate World Class delivery of capital projects, focusing on a universally applicable approach to influence and align design and study phases and proactively set up the construction phases for success to optimize project delivery.
- Proactively identify project risks and opportunities and develop plans in order to mitigate and exploit these in order to narrow the uncertainty associated with the project development and execution.

**Qualifications**:

- What you will need to have:

- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honors degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline
- A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity

**You will also need to have**:

- An understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the various functions and disciplines on the project team, including major contract organizations and owner organizations in the mining and metals industries.
- Proven ability to understand and be able to synthesize cross-functional information from functions
- Experience in wide variety of projects, with varying financial drivers, varying project risks and project costs up to $500m.
- Strong track record of leading the analysis and early business/engineering to establish the conceptual viability of step changes in resource and technology endowment opportunities within a global, multi-commodity mining organization.
- Demonstrated experience in a senior people leadership role within a technical environment, including the coordination of knowledge sharing across a discipline, managing workload and reviewing the work of others to ensure consistency with task requirements.
