Your Role

At Solarpack, we’ve experienced a strong period of growth as the direct result of increased efficiency and productivity. To continue this trajectory, we’ve created a new Business Unit, for the LATAM Region. We’re currently searching for a highly qualified LATAM Chief Operating Officer, with responsibility for the performance of the assets in a LATAM basis. S/he will be charged with ensuring operational excellence as well as being accountable for the LATAM construction and operations portfolio.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished executive with unquestionable integrity, a positive reputation and demonstrated success serving in a variety of leadership roles pertaining to power plant and energy management. S/he will be well grounded in all aspects of project development, contract negotiation, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations and maintenance. The successful candidate will also have experience recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent, and is able to extract the best from employees, recognizing how to leverage their strengths and manage their weaknesses.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and monitor appropriate metrics and key performance indicators to ensure the Regional Office’s operating assets achieves maximum ROI and supervise all matters pertaining to managing, enhancing, or optimizing their operational performance.
  • Lead the LATAM organization’s project execution arm (engineering, procurement, construction), including the planning, third party execution, and delivery phases of all ongoing and future projects under development, the leader will be accountable for delivering the global construction portfolio on time and on budget.
  • Ensure safe, reliable and environmentally responsible operations at the regional sites.
  • Track key operational and project metrics, understanding efficiency metrics across cost, quality, time, etc., and develop and implement solutions to continuously advance performance.
  • Report regularly on construction/project issues, opportunities, and achievements.
  • In coordination with the corporate COO and Businesses teams, Establish and manage a sourcing approach, with strategic relationships with suppliers (both component and service) relationships and develop and implement commercial cost strategies with key external and internal engineering, procurement, and construction partners.
  • Develop and implement a plan to build in-house regional operating capabilities and determine when to leverage an outsourced model.
  • Oversee all plant management, including dispatch profiles, maintenance planning, capital expenditure programs, and emissions credit requirements.
  • Select and manage third party O&M providers when economically justified and ensure delivery of services are consistent with Solarpack’s operational standards and objectives.
  • Define expectations, set standards, and provide leadership that promote a culture of safety-first, personal accountability and trust, collaboration, operational and performance excellence, quality, and customer/project-focus.
  • Ensure the regional office has the necessary talent to deliver short- and long-term operating objectives.
  • Effectively manage all key stakeholder relationships, including clients, vendors, and communities, and execute stakeholder engagement and social investment plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; MBA or other advanced degree desirable.
  • Over 15 years of experience in leading the construction and operations of power generation businesses and a balance of operational know-how, commercial savvy, and strategic acumen.
  • Track record in leading large portfolios of operating assets with a history of high performance in safety.
  • Deep power industry relationships including development companies, which may need a corporate partner to complete their asset build out and operation of those assets.
  • High level of English and english.
