Lead Accountant

Liberty Mutual Consulting Chile SpA, the local entity for Liberty Mutual Surety, is currently hiring a Lead Accountant to support our local operations and transition towards a risk-bearing entity. In this role, you will work under limited supervision by collecting, preparing, and processing financial data in agreement with accounting principles in force in both Chile and the US, specifically related to insurance business. You will also provide analysis of results and review of any inconsistency to regional and local leaders while keeping handling complex accounting process and activities.

Responsibilities:

Under limited supervision, responsible for the handling and support of finance and accounting activities, including but not limited to:

• Prepares, supports and processes financial data (i.e. general ledger, bills, accounts payable, accounts receivables, validations, journal entries) using several accounting Systems in timely and efficient manner. Provides results to manager per process.
• Contributes to accounting and financial analysis and prepares reports in a timely and efficient way.
• Handles complex data with a high degree of accuracy. Identifies, reports and solves problems with a degree of efficiency.
• Offers support in accounting and financial matters to external and internal clients. Reviews deviations and identifies and work to solve any problem and variation as soon as arises. Provides conclusions to supervisors.
• Collaborates with compliance regarding accounting, tax and regulatory rules; Protects company assets and reviews alignment of all operations to corporate policies, manuals and procedures. Guarantees technical quality of financial data.
• Supports tax calculations and other areas of accounting in coordination with internal and external specialists. Attends requests of internal and external auditors and regulators.
• Participates in initiatives and projects of its area and in interaction with others.
• Maintains processes and makes recommendations for improvement.
• Ensures a high degree of accuracy.
• As requested, provides support to other areas and external clients, regulators and auditors in accounting and financial matters, including moderate knowledge of tax rules.
• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

• University degree in Accounting in Chile
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant and progressively more responsible accounting experience, preferably with multinational/international or audit firms. Prior experience working in the insurance industry is expected.
• Able to demonstrate in-depth medium-complex financial analysis knowledge and ability.
• Proven ability of communication written and oral and decision making in operational matters related to accounting and finance.
• Strong bilingual capabilities in English. Resumes must be submitted in English for consideration.
• Knowledge and experience in US GAAP
• Knowledge and experience in IFRS
• Moderate knowledge of tax rules in Chile
• Prior experience with SAP (preferred, not mandatory)
• Excellent attitude of service and learning
• Able to work independently with strong time management and organizational skills.
