Job Description

Our client, a global fresh produce distributor, is seeking an Accounting Manager/Clerk. Candidates must have experience with Sage (preferably Sage 50). The position involves a mix of hands-on clerical accounting tasks and some managerial responsibilities which include generating and preparing financial reports for management or external stakeholders, reconciling accounts, and maintaining organized financial records.

Applicants must be fluent in speaking Spanish.

This is a 3-6 month contract role, with the possibility of extension.

Job Responsibilities:

Hands-on Clerical Accounting Tasks (using Sage):

  • Data entry of invoices, receipts, and payments directly into Sage
  • Bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies
  • Accounts payable and receivable processing, including creating and sending invoices
  • Posting journal entries and maintaining the general ledger
  • Generating financial reports such as trial balances or profit and loss statements using Sage
  • Expense tracking and categorization within Sage
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records for audits and reporting

Managerial Responsibilities (using Sage):

  • Reviewing and approving financial entries done by junior staff or clerks in Sage
  • Monitoring budget vs. actuals using reports pulled from Sage
  • Overseeing month-end and year-end close processes in Sage
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
  • Preparing financial reports for management or external stakeholders
Requirements
  • 5 years professional accounting experience
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Hands-on experience with Sage Accounting Software
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in accounting or finance-related field
