About the Company:

Sagan represents a leading company in the construction industry, seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and drive strategic financial initiatives. The role requires a proactive leader who thrives in a remote setting while effectively coordinating with an on-site team.

Position Overview:

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, including accounting, reporting, compliance, and financial strategy. The ideal candidate has experience in construction accounting, understands AIA billing and percentage-of-completion methods, and is comfortable working with Sage Intacct. This role requires someone who takes extreme ownership of their work, communicates effectively, and ensures accountability at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Manage AIA billing and percentage-of-completion accounting for construction projects.
  • Lead and support a remote finance team while coordinating with on-site colleagues.
  • Implement and optimize accounting software, with a preference for Sage Intacct.
  • Analyze financial data to support business decisions and improve profitability.
  • Maintain clear communication with senior leadership and provide strategic financial insights.
  • Hold team members accountable to deadlines and accuracy in financial reporting.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting/finance, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Experience managing a remote team and working with a hybrid workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to hold team members accountable.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software; Sage Intacct experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AIA billing and percentage-of-completion accounting (preferred).

Nice-to-Haves:

  • CPA or equivalent certification.
  • Experience optimizing financial processes and implementing new systems.
  • Background in financial strategy and long-term planning.
