Overview The Sales & Use Tax Accountant oversees sales, use, and property tax returns for all legal entities, ensuring accuracy from source data compilation to review of filed tax returns. This role collaborates with business units, IT, and third-party consultants to compile accurate data, reconciles information with the general ledger, and ensures timely payment of taxes. The position provides tax research, guidance, and process documentation, manages audits, and drives process improvements to maintain compliance and minimize financial risk. Responsibilities Oversee preparation, review, and filing of sales, use, and property tax returns for all legal entities. Collaborate with business units, IT, and third-party consultants to compile accurate data. Ensure tax data reconciles to the general ledger and third-party payment requests. Perform tax research and provide taxability guidance to stakeholders. Respond to tax inquiries via mailbox within 48 hours. Write and maintain desktop procedures to document processes. File, pay, and track business licenses. File refund claims for taxes on accounts receivable. Review, approve, and enter tax exemptions into tax determination systems. Troubleshoot purchase order taxability and related issues. Ensure compliance with state regulations, accounting practices, and tax laws. Conduct sales and use tax audits and coordinate with auditors from notice to completion. Implement process improvements in the Sales and Use Tax Department. Ensure accurate and timely financial reports to avoid penalties. Maintain assigned GL account reconciliations and mitigate financial risk. Assist in departmental projects, leading planning, coordination, and execution. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting/Finance preferred. CPA preferred. Minimum of 2–5 years’ experience in Accounting/Finance. Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills, including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, and Charts. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of SOX controls and compliance requirements. Understanding of GAAP accounting principles. ERP experience required. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Skills Experience with Sabrix and/or Vertex tax systems preferred. Knowledge of EDI capabilities preferred. BI/BW expertise preferred. Lean Six Sigma certification preferred. Education & Credentials Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA designation preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
