Requisition ID: Job Overview Mechanical Engineer role at Bechtel Corporation in Santiago, Chile. Job Summary This position is responsible for mechanical equipment packages in copper processing and mining plants. The engineer coordinates, develops and leads meetings with other disciplines, customers and vendors to determine scope, technical and design definitions, quantity and cost estimates. Major Responsibilities Coordinate and manage mechanical packages as a technical leader. Develop engineering design of equipment and mechanical systems for mining projects. Perform calculations and analyses for technical design recommendations. Prepare material requests, specifications and data sheets for procurement. Evaluate suppliers and conduct tender technical evaluations. Collaborate with mechanical designers to produce drawings. Lead reviews of conceptual studies, calculation reports and designs. Provide technical assistance and solve complex regulatory problems. Assist project and construction management with mechanical requirements. Education and Experience Requirements Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and a minimum of 12 years of relevant mining experience. Required Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of mining equipment and plant processes. Experience in design and calculation of material handling equipment. Ability to handle water networks, air networks and fire protection systems. Strong problem solving, communication and professional autonomy. Advanced English proficiency.
