Civil Engineer – FTTH/FTTx Deployment Specialist Location: Santiago, Chile About the Role: On behalf of Huawei Technologies, a global leader in ICT infrastructure, we are seeking a skilled and proactive Civil Engineer to join our Fixed Network Deployment team in Chile. This foundational role will involve building the physical backbone of Chile’s digital future, ensuring successful deployment of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and FTTx networks by overseeing civil works from design validation to on-site construction and quality assurance. Key Responsibilities Civil Works Supervision & Quality Control: Lead and supervise on‑site civil construction activities for FTTx projects, including trenching, conduit installation, chamber and foundation construction, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and local regulations. Technical Design Review & CAD Management: Review, validate, and create detailed technical designs and CAD drawings based on site survey reports, ensuring designs are feasible and cost‑effective. Material & Contractor Management: Coordinate logistics of construction materials, manage relationships with civil contractors, and oversee their work to meet timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks. Site Surveys & Technical Reporting: Conduct thorough site surveys to assess feasibility, identify potential risks, and prepare detailed technical reports that inform the project’s civil design and execution plan. Compliance & Standards Enforcement: Ensure all civil works adhere to Huawei’s global quality standards, national building codes, and specific project requirements, conducting inspections for concrete quality, structural verticality, and other critical parameters. Desired Qualifications & Experience A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 2‑3 years of hands‑on experience in civil works for telecommunications projects (FTTx, cellular sites) or in general civil construction with exposure to structural design. Proven skill in reading, interpreting, and creating technical designs and CAD drawings. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software is required. Practical knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and standard quality inspection procedures for civil structures. Strong project coordination skills, managing contractors, timelines, and resources effectively in a field environment. Results‑driven, problem‑solving attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality. Willingness and ability to travel to project sites across Chile.
