Las Campanas Observatory (LCO) of Carnegie Institution for Science, a world-class astronomy institution, is seeking: IT SOFTWARE ENGINEER The Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the operational software required by the various departments of LCO. Duties and Responsibilities: Analyze, design, test and develop web applications that meet LCO's operational requirements using Django and Django REST Framework. Document every aspect of the reference systems or applications for future upgrades or maintenance. Support operations software developed in Python, TCL/TK, C/C++. Troubleshoot and follow up on operations software issues. Participate in general Software Group activities and perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: Computer and IT engineer or related career, with at least 3 years of experience in software development. Other Skills: Skills to communicate and integrate cooperatively in a team environment that also allows to adequately identify user requirements for the design, development and maintenance of software. Technical report generation, and documentation of procedures and protocols. Technical English. Class "B" Driver's License.
