Base pay range At Vela Sustainability Technologies (VST), we propel environmental stewardship, workplace safety, and operational excellence across industries through purpose-built SaaS solutions. As we consolidate and scale software companies to accelerate a global transition toward a more resilient and regenerative economy, you will lead the technology for a core business unit within a growing, international group. You will guide the architecture and platform evolution of a mission-critical SaaS offering used by customers in construction, energy, manufacturing, and other highly regulated sectors. This role combines strategic technology leadership with hands‑on execution to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant software that supports sustainable operations at scale. Key Responsibilities Define and execute the technology strategy for a core VST business unit, aligning with global corporate objectives and long‑term product roadmaps. Lead and mentor cross‑functional teams (engineering, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, data, security, and customer success) to deliver high‑quality SaaS products on cloud‑native architectures. Architect scalable, resilient, and secure cloud infrastructure with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, incident response, and cost optimization. Drive engineering excellence through modern development practices (Agile/Scrum, Kanban), test automation, API‑first design, microservices, and robust DevOps culture. Own system architecture, integrations, data models, and API strategies to ensure seamless interoperability with customers and partners. Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and platforms to maintain competitive advantage and regulatory compliance. Partner with Product, Customer Success, Sales, and executive leadership to translate business needs into technical roadmaps and deliver measurable outcomes. Oversee governance, security, privacy, and industry‑specific compliance requirements; manage risk and audit readiness across the stack. Manage technical partnerships, vendor contracts, and third‑party integrations to optimize performance and cost. What You Bring We are seeking an accomplished technology leader with a deep background in SaaS development, cloud architecture, and people leadership. You will shape the technology strategy for a mission‑critical platform that supports environmental management, workplace safety, and operational efficiency in regulated industries. Required Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field. 8+ years of software engineering experience; 3+ years in technical leadership roles. Proven track record delivering and scaling SaaS solutions in cloud environments (preferably Microsoft Azure). Strong experience with modern software development practices, APIs, system integrations, and DevOps culture. Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and spoken). Outstanding leadership, strategic thinking, and decision‑making skills. Nice to have Experience with regulatory compliance regimes, data protection standards, and complex integrations in international contexts. Familiarity with data analytics, security operations, and production‑grade observability. Desirable Skills & Experience Strategic thinker who can translate business priorities into scalable technical programs. Demonstrated ability to lead large, diverse engineering teams across geographies and time zones. Track record of delivering secure, compliant SaaS platforms in highly regulated industries. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
