DWDM Engineer

DWDM / Optical Transmission Engineer (Deployment & Delivery) Santiago, Chile On behalf of Huawei Technologies, a global leader in ICT infrastructure, we are seeking a skilled and motivated DWDM / Optical Transmission Engineer to join our Carrier Network team in Chile. This role is central to the success of our high-capacity backbone and metro networks. You will be involved in the entire solution lifecycle—from designing robust optical networks and supporting our sales efforts, to deploying cutting-edge DWDM/OTN systems and ensuring their optimal performance for our key telecommunications and enterprise clients. Key Responsibilities Solution Design & Presales Support: Collaborate with the presales team to architect, dimension, and propose advanced DWDM/OTN network solutions. Translate customer requirements (capacity, reach, resilience) into viable technical designs and contribute to competitive proposals. Project Deployment & Integration: Lead the deployment, configuration, and commissioning of state-of-the-art DWDM/OTN platforms and optical network management systems. Testing & Validation: Execute comprehensive system testing, including optical power budget validation, BER testing, and service turn-up. Lead the customer acceptance process to ensure all technical and performance criteria are met. Technical Troubleshooting & Optimization: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex optical layer issues. Proactively analyze and optimize network performance, capacity, and reliability. Customer Engagement & Documentation: Serve as a key technical advisor to customers throughout the project lifecycle. Develop high-quality technical documentation (HLD/LLD, migration plans, as-built) and conduct knowledge transfer sessions. Desired Qualifications & Experience A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in designing, deploying, and/or operating high-capacity DWDM/OTN networks in a carrier or service provider environment. Deep expertise in optical transmission technologies: DWDM, OTN, ROADM, Optical Amplification (EDFA, Raman), Coherent Transmission, and Photonic Control Plane. Proven experience in optical link engineering, network design principles, and performance monitoring. Proficiency with industry-standard optical test equipment (e.g., OTDR, OSA, BERT). Experience with major vendor optical platforms is highly valued. Strong background in a customer-facing technical role (presales support, delivery engineering, or senior network operations). Excellent analytical, communication, and project coordination skills. Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
